Danny was on his way back to the precinct when his phone rang signaling a call from home. "Reagan." He answered out of habit. When he heard Sean in a panic on the other end of the line. "Hey Sean... do me a favor and calm down a minute. What do you mean Mom's gone... where did she go?" When he wasn't getting anything other than nonsense out of Sean he asked. "Sean, where's Jack?... let me talk to Jack. I'm on my way home now...but I need you to calm down and don't touch anything ok."
Something wasn't sitting right with Danny as he swung the car around and headed towards his house. He still had his phone up to his ear listening to Sean panic on the other end. "Sean... give the phone to Jack, right now." He heard Sean call for Jack and then the rustling of the phone being handed to Jack who was slightly calmer than his brother. "Jack...Tell me what happened. I'm almost home. If you give me back to Sean can you call my work number and calmly tell someone there what's going on and let them know I'm on my way home."

Who do you want to talk to?" Jack took the phone. Sean had called because Jack was in the process of locking all the doors. This beat the shady part of New York that had used to live in but he didn't like it. He waited for his dad's response. He grabbed his own cellphone and was already dialing the police precinct directly. Both phones were to his mouth as he heard Platt say she would send someone. It wasn't Sharon's fault she was next down the stairs at the precinct.
Once Jack hung up with Platt he tossed his cell down on the counter. "Jack give my phone back!" Jack held his hand up. "This is really important Sean. Dad they said Detective Voight would meet you here." Jack knew he was going to have to give an official report to this Voight when they got here. "We just came home and she was gone. She always tells us if she is leaving the house. ALWAYS."

Hearing Jack's tone he half wanted to jerk a knot in him right through the phone, "Jack! This is important and no time for attitude. I need someone who's calm enough to talk to me, which is clearly not Sean. Please tell me you've already locked all the doors."
Danny groaned inwardly when he heard that they were sending Detective Voight, he half wished that they had been referring to the Sergeant. He sighed, "Ok Jack, if she beats me there let Sharon in she'll show you her badge through the window but I'm sure you'll recognize her anyway. Just make sure to lock the door behind her." Could his day get any worse? No he refused to think like that. Was he looking forward to having to deal with his ex-partner while searching for his missing wife... not exactly, but he knew that she was one of the best and he probably wouldn't trust anyone else.
He listened as Jack told him that Linda was just gone and that she never left the house without telling them. He knew his wife and knew that she would never just up and leave without telling the boys something. He had a sinking feeling in his stomach. "Jack... just stay with your brother and don't let anyone other than Sharon through that door. I'm going to hang up I'm just a few miles from home, I want to try and call your mom." He hit end on the call and dialed Linda, he got no answer and when he noticed the traffic in front of him he swore under his breath and dialed Sharon.
"Sharon listen, I know we're not on the best of terms at this point but please tell me you're almost at my house, the boys are there by themselves and I just ran into some traffic... I'm lighting it up and I'll be there as soon as I can, just please take care of my boys for me."

[attr=class, sarabande] [attr=class, sleepdance]honey i forgot to duck [attr=class, threesara]all posts will come from Linda's account [attr=class, threemeter]isn't that a little overzealous [attr=class, symphony]linda [attr=class, symphony]linda "No dad I didn't lock the doors" Jack rolled his eyes, at least his dad couldn't see him. Though the sarcasm was there. That is how he coped with this mess. Sarcasm. Finally jack sighed. "Yes, I locked the doors." His dad was being overprotective. "Dad... I remember Sharon. The hot chick with the crazy dad that married Aunt Erin. It's hard to forget her." Yes well their family tree was complicated. Technically that made her a cousin but they weren't really cousins? The boys hung up and started arguing over what Danny had said about not letting anyone inside the house. Why did they have to have the most overprotective dad on the planet. Whoever it was, they were probably long gone. They knew better though and they listened.
Meanwhile, at the precinct Sharon grabbed the first detective she could find that didn't look busy. Not even caring what the person thought she grabbed him by the wrist. No way in hell was going to deal with her ex-partner. "Cole right?" She put a hand on her hip, though she still didn't trust men too much he would have to do. She took a step back, she needed her space when it came to males. "Reagan's wife disappeared. That's all we know right now. Their son called it in." She was headed to the car. The detective better be following her.
Her phone rang. "I'm leaving the station now." Ugh, he was pushy and Sharon didn't do well with pushy males. She could just stay off this case. No... technically Linda was family. Sharon was going to stick her nose in but she didn't need Danny's big head making snark from the sidelines. Sharon waited for Matt before she started the lights and sirens at the top of the car. There was nothing more annoying to her than having to get anywhere fast in Chicago.

It was quiet in the bullpen apart from some light chuckling coming from two of Matt's colleagues as they watched him duct tape an air horn under one of his other colleague's computer chair with an amused grin on his face, just minutes before the guy was due to return to his desk. After all the guy had messed around with matt's computer for a joke the other day; changing his desktop to the most ridiculously "girly" Hello Kitty ballerina wallpaper he could find, adjusting the screen resolution to be ludicrously small and changed the sound settings so that Matt was greeted with an irritating noises every time he clicked the mouse or did something, and Matt had to even the score somehow right. Matt sat back down at his own desk and quickly hid the duct tape in the top draw, "Shhh." He said to his colleagues with a smile. Everyone apart from Detective Hargraves knew about the prank so it wouldn't really cause any kind of disruption in the bullpen or stop any work from getting done. That was the rule the men had when it came to office pranks, anything goes as long as it does not affect the work. A moment later the three of them wiped the smiles off their faces and sat at their desks working as normal when detective Hargraves came back in. "Any news on that Brookman lead?" He asked as he walled over to his desk. "Nope. But I got those addressed you wanted, I put the folder on your desk." Matt replied. "Thanks." He said, noting the folder on the corner of his desk as he put his jacket on the back of his chair. He sat down, pulling himself towards his desk and pulled the folder in front of himself before noticing his seat had been adjusted too high, and without giving it a thought he instinctively lowered the chair and jumped a good several feet when the horn suddenly sounded. Matt and his other two colleagues burst out laughing, the prank was immature yes, but so were they to a certain point. Hargraves looked to Matt shaking his head a little, "Idiot." He didn't mean it in a nasty way, it was just what the men did and how they talked to one another. "Are you guys ever gonna grow up and get some work done?" Their CO teased, looking at them through the open door of his office as he worked at his own desk. He knew they didn't slacked off when they messed around with each other and that was the only reason why he allowed it, it was good for office morale. Once the fun was over Matt turned back to his computer and continued chasing down a lead he was working on and his two co-workers went out on a call, while Hargraves spent several minutes trying to somehow unwrap or cut the tape off his chair, "Dude, how much duct tape did you use?"That was when some woman came steaming by Matt's desk and unceremoniously grabbed his wrist. "Cole right?"Matt was taken aback for a second, he had no idea who she was or why she was grabbing him. But she was obviously on the job and didn't come off as an immediate threat so he didn't get all that defensive, standing up as she tugged his wrist for him to do so, "Yeah?" He replied, confirming who he was but looking at her quizzically. The woman let go of his wrist and took a step back from him. "Reagan's wife disappeared. That's all we know right now. Their son called it in."That was all she said before she headed out, answering her phone as she left. "I'm leaving the station now."Matt watched after her as she walked away, still a little confused by the whirlwind that had just happened. He turned his head and looked to his CO from where he stood as if to ask for authorization to leave, "You might want to follow her." His CO told him. He knew what Sharon could be like even if poor Matt didn't have a clue about her yet. Matt immediately grabbed his jacket and followed after Sharon. Hearing the name 'Reagan' Matt had instantly thought of his best friend, but he knew it couldn't be him because he didn't have a wife now, and Reagan was a common name around these parts so it would seem, "Who's Reagan?" Matt asked as he fell into step with Sharon. "Where are we heading?" he inquired as he followed her to her car. He still had no idea what was going on, only that someone was missing. Sharon didn't say Detective Reagan, so he had not idea if this was just another case that had been called in or what. But by the way she was acting it didn't feel like it was that simple. Tag: @dannyreagan , @linda . Ooc: I'm playing it as Matt has never met Danny or Sharon in person - obviously - but I can always change that if we need to for any reason |

"Enough with the sarcasm Jack, now is hardly the time... Just do as your told and don't even think about rolling your eyes at me." Danny sighed, wishing that his son hadn't turned out quite so much like him. "Yeah ok so let the hot chick in, and lock the doors behind her. Answer her questions, and I'll be there as soon as I can." After he hung up with Sharon he tried to concentrate on getting home as quickly as he could, but found his mind racing to think of anyone who might have had something to do with this. He pulled out his phone again and dialed up Linda's idiot brother. "Tell me you didn't have anything to do with this." He all but growled when the other man answered his phone. "Tell me this has nothing to do with you Jimmy, or so help me..." When the call was suddenly disconnected Danny swore and threw his phone across the car before laying on the horn trying to get the car in front of him to move. He knew that he had probably come across as pushy to Sharon and he hadn't meant to, but this was his wife that was missing and Danny didn't deal well when things got personal. He would tear apart all of Chicago if he had to... just to find Linda, and he wasn't going to sugar coat things to try to make nice with his ex-partner. They were going to find Linda, and quickly. As soon as he found someone to watch the boys he was going to start with Linda's deadbeat brother, and find out if he owed someone some more money. He still had a bad taste in his mouth from when the other man had shown up at their house last and brought surveillance with him. He might be grasping at straws but at this point he really didn't care if the man had anything to do with it or not, he had drawn attention to his home and his family. For that he wanted him gone and out of Chicago forever. He leaned over to retrieve his phone and tried calling Linda again, when it went straight to voicemail he ended the call and dialed Sharon again. "I should be there in about ten minutes, but I have a hunch we should start with Linda's brother Jimmy and his rather unsavory associates. I swear I'm not trying to be pushy Sharon...but this is Linda, and I..." He cleared his throat before he continued, "uh well anyway we need to find her." Tag: @linda, Matthew Cole,

[attr=class, sarabande] [attr=class, sleepdance]honey i forgot to duck [attr=class, threesara]replace this with notes [attr=class, threemeter]isn't that a little overzealous [attr=class, symphony]linda [attr=class, symphony]linda What was this twenty questions? “Detective Danny Reagan, my former partner.” Sharon stated unable to answer Matt’s second question because of her phone call. Yet again Danny was calling her. She rolled her eyes putting the call on speaker phone. Oh he was annoying at best. Then again she knew she had done some stupid things when her dad went missing. She’d blamed all the wrong people and gone in with her head screwed on straight.
“Danny, calm down.” She expected backlash for the comment but it’s what he needed to do right now. Right, leave it to Sharon and Matt to have to keep Danny from doing something stupid. “Which is exactly why you are going to stay at home with your boys and let Matt and I handle this.” She knew this was also likely to go over like a lead balloon; but what choice did she really have at this point.
Sharon muted the call where Danny couldn’t hear the conversation between the pair in the car. “He’s too close to this. This is like a loaded cannon just waiting to go off.” She stated as she drove towards their destination. Sharon wanted to see how Linda had gotten out of the house. There was almost always a sign of someone leaving if they were dragged out. The question was it could be anything.
Meanwhile...
Linda woke up in an unfamiliar place. "What do you want with me?" After promptly being told to keep quiet shse was gagged. She didn't hear anything for a while as she was locked in a dark room while the two men outside discussed their plans. Linda couldn't hear them just something that sounded like the teacher on Charlie Brown.

“Detective Danny Reagan, my former partner.”That was all she said before her phone rang again. Matt frowned as he looked over at her as she spoke to the person on the other end. A cop's spouse going missing was NEVER a good thing. Anyones spouse going missing was never good, but a cop's wife added more to the mix. Was she targeted because she was a cops wife? Or was it just another added worry that her connection to law enforcement could put her at greater risk if her abductors found out about it? Then there was the the fact that she said 'former' partner. Matt didn't know what the story there was, but Sharon wasn't exactly using gentile and comforting tones with the guy who currently found himself a wife short, so either she was laking a sense of good compassion as a cop, or she didn't exactly hold any warm and fuzzy feeling for her former partner. Either way he could see it making things tricky in a case that was already going to be emotionally charged. “He’s too close to this. This is like a loaded cannon just waiting to go off.” "Great." Matt replied dully, turning his eyes back ahead. But at least he had a heads up. Not that he could blame the guy, he wasn't married himself but he didn't want to think what it would be like to be in that situation, he would go nuts worrying. "Well, you've met the guy, do we have any kind of plan here?" He asked. Meaning the best way to handle Danny. Tag: @dannyreagan, @linda. |

Danny huffed when Sharon told him to calm down, “Don’t tell me to calm down Sharon, I’m as calm as I’m going to get until we get my wife back! Tell me you would react any differently if it were Thomas.” He merely laughed at her when she told him he was going to stay home and let her and someone he didn’t even know handle this, “Good luck with that, someone is already on the way to pick the boys up. I am NOT sitting this one out Sharon.” As much as it pained him to do so he realized that he needed to let someone with a level head call the shots, and truth be told there wasn’t anyone he would trust more to do it than Sharon, he spoke reluctantly “I’ll let you take lead and call the shots on this one Sharon because I trust you, but so help me… if you try to keep me out of it, I’ll just go behind your back and do what I want to anyway. We can discuss where we should start when we meet at the house, Jack should have the doors locked but knows enough to let you in. Thanks for helping Sharon, I do appreciate it.” He said before ending the call. He still thought the best place to start would be with Jimmy seeming as this wouldn’t be the first time his stupidity had caused problems for Linda. His associates knew where they lived because Jimmy had led them straight to his house, Danny had even found the thugs running surveillance on his home. If they didn’t have something to do with this, they more than likely knew who did. The good thing about that being Danny knew right where to find them, which would hopefully get them off to a good start. Danny turned his attention to getting through traffic, weaving in and out of the lanes to get around slower vehicles he finally caught a break in traffic about a mile from home. With his mind in a million different places at once he gripped the steering wheel he sped towards the house. Tag: @linda, Matthew Cole

[attr=class, sarabande] [attr=class, sleepdance]honey i forgot to duck [attr=class, threesara]replace this with notes [attr=class, threemeter]isn't that a little overzealous [attr=class, symphony]linda [attr=class, symphony]linda Oh yeah because handling Danny was something someone planned. “Plan? You are joking. Plans go wrong, we don’t even know what mess we are getting into. Might as well learn to fly by the seat of your pants.” She pointed out. Some detectives were completely spoiled. Intelligence you went for the hail marys and prayed they worked.
Hearing Danny on the other end of the line she just hung up on him. She wasn’t going to listen to him tell her how to do her job. The man was too hot headed for his own good. She focused on driving to their destination. She needed to figure out how someone got into the house in the first place. It was a job for CSU. They were the ones who could analyze things.
Once they got there she ignored the boys babbling at her about something Danny said and started looking at all the obvious points of entry for things that seemed out of place. She knew Danny didn’t have any security cameras. One of those luxuries that not many could afford. Only reason she even had them in hers was her dad had no issues spending money when it came to things like that.
Though with Linda’s new job she was sort of shocked there were none yet. How many times had she told Danny that he needed them? Sharon looked over to Matt. “We will know more once CSU is done in here but what are the chances she knew the person and opened the door for them. No broken windows, no torn clothing, no unlocked windows. Nada.” Already she wasn’t liking the looks of this.

When Sharon told Matt that plans go wrong he looked over at her, "No, I just meant do you know if it's better to take the cookie and a hug approach with this guy or put a boot print where the sun doesn't shine?" He shrugged nonchalantly, "You've worked with hi- never mind." He turned his eye's back ahead for a second. It wasn't important, he would find out for himself soon enough. "And trust me, I can fly by the seat of my pants." He added casually as he leaned back into his seat. A fact his CO could vouch for. It wasn't like Matt was the reckless type, though he had been known to have his moments, but there were times his CO thought he needed to learn to fly by the seat of his pants just a little less. Once they arrived at the house and had dealt with the boys Matt walked round the house as he and Sharon looked for signs of entry and any signs of a struggle, but there wasn't much to go on. “We will know more once CSU is done in here but what are the chances she knew the person and opened the door for them. No broken windows, no torn clothing, no unlocked windows. Nada.” Stepping over to her he nodded in agreement, "Or someone in a uniform." He mused, thinking out loud for a second, "Not many people think twice about opening the door for a cop or the FedEx guy." Unfortunately Matt had seen that trick used in his neighborhood as a way to mug people in their own homes, though this was a nicer area than where he lived and they weren't looking at a simple robbery, but it was still a way to get someone to open the door and was one theory to consider, whatever the likelihood of it was. "But until CSU gives us something to go on I guess we just go with the usual and start looking through the list of people in her life, and find out if any of the neighbors saw anything." [attr=class, sarabande] [attr=class, sleepdance]honey i forgot to duck [attr=class, threesara]replace this with notes [attr=class, threemeter]isn't that a little overzealous [attr=class, symphony]linda [attr=class, symphony]linda Ha, Sharon wasn’t about to tell Matt that Danny always broke whoever had the upper hand and then ran off with it. Matt wanted to try to run this ship, she knew better. This detective she had grabbed was irritating. Why couldn’t it have been a woman sitting at the desk; no she got detective ego.
She found something on the table putting her glove on she picked up the note. “I am going with the she knew him theory.” She showed the piece of notebook paper to Matt. “Danny I am sorry, I didn’t mean to get Linda mixed up in this. Help.” She read the words before flipping the paper over. “Not signed; but chances are if the guy knows Danny, he likely knows the wife.” Sharon knew the family was tight and everyone knew everyone else’s contacts and associations. Sharon resisted the urge to lash out at Matt when he suggested that Linda would do something so trusting of a stranger. Then again she knew her family better than Sharon. “Linda knows better.” That was all she said on the matter. Sharon could have added the woman was a cop’s wife but she very much doubted Matt could understand.
In fact, she could see why the guy didn’t have a ring on his finger. Anyone who could put up with him was probably on another planet. “We don’t need a list. Danny would know everyone with whom she so much as had contact.” Overprotective maybe; but in this case it was likely the thing that was going to help them find Linda.
Danny’s phone rang and it was Linda from a burner cell. "Danny!" she screamed the minute the line connected. “They want Jimmy!” She was cut off as the man grabbed the phone.
“You want your wife alive, bring us her brother.” The man demanded before hanging up the phone on Danny. Not giving enough time for a trace on the call. He then got someone to dispose of the phone as he ran a hand down Linda's cheek.
