all the kids cried out please stop you're scaring me I can't help this awful energy god damn right you should be scared of me who is in control? Jamie came into the house with Debra holding onto a pressure point on her arm. She'd already called her dad and her brother. If there was two people who could talk sense into the woman it was them. This was an intervention because Bobby had done nothing and in Debra's eyes, done all the wrong things. Keeping her distracted wasn't enough, for a man who claimed to know his wife... he was failing miserably. Jamie was fighting against her sister's hold but went into the house. Cue her father's voice. "Jamison" he stated as he took his youngest daughter in his arms. He could tell that things were not going well just by looking at her face. Debra glared at her brother in law, the man tried to do everything alone. So now she was stuck trying to figure this out. Hell he hadn't even wanted to call Ric in on this. With Fred there Deb could only gather that Ric too had arrived. Jamie wrapped arms around her dad and didn't let go. Fred sighed, he kissed the top of her forehead. He had already heard from Bobby about the drinking. Fred was not impressed but he understood that she was simply hurting. @bobby

He had already updated Fred and Rick on what was going on. He had helped in only way he knew how. If she wasn't talking, there was little he could have done to help, unless knew he the core of what happened. Sipping his drink he watched as his father-in-law stepped in and up. Deb's glare did nothing, so he rolled his eyes. His sister/cousin-in-law was a mother hen and that was something he couldn't deny.
He also was aware that talking right now would bad move. But he had been trying to find a break that would have helped him; help his wife. He was already playing the role of Mr Mom, minus cooking. He looked over at Rick, his brother-in-law's reaction was pretty much school like most people around him who were in the military. His own twin had disappeared off to check on the kids and Bobby suspected he would stay there. He wanted Simon Logic in the room.
Rick got to his feet and over to Deb, "Looking at him like that is not going to help the cause. You don't want Jamie on your tail for taking a swipe at her husband." His kid sister was loyal to the Coastie, he had no doubt of that.

all the kids cried out please stop you're scaring me I can't help this awful energy god damn right you should be scared of me who is in control? Fred just brushed some of Jamie's hair aside. The whole family was hurting after Katherine's death but Jamie was dealing with the hostage aftermath too and the one who needed to be spoken to. "Your brother wants to speak with you" he stated firmly. Jamie for whatever reason was comfortable with directions that weren't really orders. She knew with her dad that it wasn't really a choice. She nodded. Debra nailed Ric with a look. The only reason she hadn't gone upstairs is that her father hadn't dismissed her. No matter how old the girls got they were expected to listen to what he had to say. Debra despised that most of all. She was an adult and had her own family and yet Fred had to play patriarch and expect the girls to fall in line. For whatever reason, Ric escaped it. Maybe because he was his own patriarch now. Jamie sighed and looked over to her brother. What could he possibly have to say that no one else had tried to tell her? Fred let his daughter go when he saw Bobby nearby. Jamie made a beeline for her husband and wrapped arms around him. Though it was clear that the older man wasn't going anywhere. @bobby

He watched as Rick pinned her with a look and shook his head. It was not easy having your older siblings on your back. While he wasn't a girl, he knew the feeling of it. How many times had Matthew been on his case/back/neck? Too many to count. Even to this day the Admiral did it. At least it was less often then used to be. Of course who could forget that Rick and Matt had teamed up just to get on Jamie and his case. Hopefully that was one and only time for it.
Leaning over the counter he watched father and daughter duo; and a soft smile was on his face. His wife seemed contented to stay there. Not that he could blame her. Sophia did love to stay in his embrace most evenings. He knew there would come a time that she would get too old for daddy's hugs. He tipped his head towards the stairs and listened. Yea he was being a worried father. He knew the kids would be having fun with Uncle Simon.
He shifted it again when Jamie made a beeline for him, took her in his arms, "All good?" he asked as he placed a kiss in her hair. And gave a gesture to Rick that it was okay to come over.
Rick shook his head at Deb's glare, it didn't really affect him. He could still bring his sister into line with a lok, but choose not to do so. Their father was here and he didn't want to have him on his tail. Turning, he walked over his sister and brother-in-law. "You have us worried you know," he told Jamie as he filled his mug again with coffee, "it's hard for us to see you like this, Jams." He had picked up the habit of calling Jamie that and knew it was Bobby's nickname for his sister.

all the kids cried out please stop you're scaring me I can't help this awful energy god damn right you should be scared of me who is in control? Jamie was the youngest. She was the most rebellious and the most spoiled. Sure Debra would get on people's cases, but only if it was about them not looking out for themselves or someone else. Jamie just lashed out at times to lash out. Her siblings and dad weren't making this any easier. It was normal for Jamie to bounce between dad and husband when the two were both around. Debra had decided to remain silent for now. She was the one who had been taking calls from Bobby that Jamie was at another bar. Debra either watched the kids or went to get Jamie herself. Jamie was surrounded everywhere. But she didn't want to talk. Not a one of them she could talk to about her job. What had happened that day. None of them were CPD and certain things weren't allowed to leave the confines of work. It was true what they say about the blue wall of silence. It hurts more than any could imagine. Hard for them? Really Rick? She felt her blood boil. As if it wasn't hard on her to go through that little bit of hell. "Do you know what it's like to be betrayed Ricard DO YOU?!?" She hissed and yanked herself out of Bobby's arms, Jamie was going to go after Ric but Fred put out his arms and stopped her. "Jamison" he warned lightly. Jamie went back to Bobby's shoulder. She was upset all over again. She hadn't even brought up her mother's death. It had been too painful for throw that in their face too. Fred knew there was more to it but that is just because they'd spoken a little. It was no secret that Fred favored Jamie over Deb. Debra loved her father but he really needed to get the stick out of his butt. @bobby

When Jamie almost lunged at him, he looked at his sister in shock. He knew she was a little feisty, but he had never expected her to try to jump at him. While she might have done as a child, but not like this. He was glad when his father had stepped in, rubbing his face he took a sip of the coffee and set the cup down then looked at her, "No, I don't," he admitted with a light defeat, "but you are not working through this either. We love you and we are worried about you." While they had lost their mother recently, Rick would be damned if they lost Jamie too.
He walked over where she was in her husband's arms, he had noticed Bobby trying to make a grab for his wife, gazed at his bother-in-law a second, "You won't talk, we get that. You can't talk about, we get that too. But drinking is not going to help. Walking into fights is not going to help. Your family needs you Jamie. We all need our old Jamie back."
Rick's words hit home for him, he had everything. Landed himself in hospital due to excessive drinking, He had tried everything he could to help Jamie out, but he was sure somewhere in helping her, he had fallen short. It wasn't easy trying to keeping peace at home when the kids ended at each others throats, fed and in bed, plus making sure Jamie was home and not in some bar after work. Saying nothing he held her, "Jamie, he is here to help, please let us help." He sighed as he placed his forehead to hers, "Please." It was hurting him to see her like this. The longer this went, the harder it was likely to get.

all the kids cried out please stop you're scaring me I can't help this awful energy god damn right you should be scared of me who is in control? Jamie gave her brother a glare. "Then don't sit here and tell me how to work through this!" she retaliated. Pulling Bobby's arms around her waist she was caught somewhere between lashing out and needing to feel like she was protected. Being protective of Jamie was difficult, it took a good bit of doing without her biting someone's head off. Those were the last words she really remembered. Everything else was a blur. "It's not like flipping a switch Rick. I can't trust the people I work with to keep me safe when it matters. When my job relies on that trust. They brought the kids into it.. all I could think about with that gun turned on me was them. Lying to keep them alive. Then realized by partner didn't care that he'd caused them to turn on me; to get him to cooperate. Then all I got was 'I'm sorry my head was somewhere else.' I thought I knew who I could trust." Clearly her trust even in those close to her was broken as a result. "I don't come home. I don't want my kids to see me like this. It's easier to deal with the pain; let them not see all of this." She reasoned. "I'm not running from anyone. It's easier to explain why I didn't come home then why I'm hurting inside to the kids. So I'm sheltering them at my own expense; but it's worth it to know they can sleep at night!" She spit out as she leaned on Bobby's shoulder. No one saw her reasons for doing anything. Yes, it had spiraled out of control after that. @bobby

it's a sign of my obsession ||Rick looked at her in bafflement. He was sure he handled that the wrong way. Biting back the irradiation he could feel snaking it's way, he quietly sipped. Jamie hadn't made him feel like this since......and shook his head, it had been years since she had pushed his buttons. He looked at his father for guidance. And almost scowled when he could sense none would come his way. For a brief moment he wished his mother was here to shake sense into her youngest child. By all means Jamie was not a child. Yet he was certain that Jamie and him would clashing over this, " Then you don't you tell me how you are working through this?" From what he could see, she wasn't. Bobby tensed at her words. So much had happened and she hadn't told him much. Granted she couldn't, but.....He closed his eyes to find some calm in the brewing storm. Anyone tired hurting the kids, Bobby would not have thought twice before landing them in the hospital with broken bones and whatnot. And Javan was lucky not to come face to face with him. Otherwise results would not have been favorable. He understood what she was doing for the sake of the children, however she was missing out things some days too. "They miss having you around. Same excuses don't fly with them everyday." While most days same excuse was valid and the same he was running of excuses before the kids caught up with them. " And you know what, you need a weekend away. I'm sure Rick would happy to babysit. No?" At the question he looked at his brother-in-law. Rick's mind was reeling. So much had happened weeks ago and she was telling them this now? He was sure he did behave the same if he had been her shoes. Setting his cup down, he looked at her. His fierce baby sister, " They will understand it more than you think. It might be worth a try?" all the kids cried out please stop you're scaring me I can't help this awful energy god damn right you should be scared of me who is in control? Jamie fixated her oldest sibling with a look. One she very rarely dared to use. "On my own time." Her words were sharp. It elicited another look from Fred who could not believe his daughter's insubordination but he didn't want to chastise her for it too much as he knew she was hurting. He'd always babied Jamie and let her get away with a lot more than the other two children. Jamie leaned on Bobby and just let tears fall. If it was one thing that was hard to do was to work her up enough to where she would cry. Only a certain few could push her buttons hard enough. Wrapping her arms around Bobby she buried her head. "I can't do this by myself" she whispered where no one else could hear her except Bobby. Jamie never admitted that she wasn't strong enough. Admitting that even to Bobby felt like she was losing a part of herself. Her fingers played with the back off his hair. This hurt more than she was willing to admit. "They don't need to see this Ric. End of story." She wouldn't break in front of her children. There was still innocence there. She didn't need their grades falling in school because she was upset or scared or hurting. Jamie just needed to learn it was okay to trust people again but it was very hard, she was sealing herself off when it came to trusting. @bobby

it's a sign of my obsession ||The look she gave had him mentally rolling his eyes, then sighed, " Jamie," her name came out softly from his lips, as he looked at her, " I'm not trying to be your enemy here." He wanted to reach out and assure her, but with her current way of taking this, he did rather not risk his arm being broken. " We are all trying to help in our own way. Don't shut us out, please." Bobby went back to cradling her as she cried, and at the same time trying to calm her down, " I know," he whispered back to her, " that's way I called them. Unless you let us help, we are going to keep going in circles. I want to know how I can help." Aside from playing Mr Mom to the kids. A part of him knew Rick was right as well as Jamie. Colin was old enough to understand that something was wrong, but the boy knew that asking about was not done; but Bobby suspected that his son knew that his father wasn't saying it all. Even their daughter was picking up things, yet few excuses here and there were plenty for her. Once the kids were in bed, the house was too quite even for him. Most nights he would sleeping when she came home. " I don't think the time is right to say anything to the children," he agreed, and watched Rick nod and sigh. all the kids cried out please stop you're scaring me I can't help this awful energy god damn right you should be scared of me who is in control? “I can’t talk about it. I can’t tell you what happened as much as I want to tell you.” She knew she could pick up the phone and call Travis or Debra but she hadn’t. “This whole thing has just broken my trust more than I can explain to anyone.” She couldn’t explain the scenario, it was still under investigation. Jamie cringed into Bobby’s shoulder as the images came back. Jamie shrugged, “I wish I knew. Promise me you won’t let me do anything to hurt myself or you or the kids.” That was her biggest fear right now was acting out and not wanting to, having no control over her thoughts and actions. She felt powerless to stop anything. “I just want to trust someone to have my back.” Jamie had over the years become very distrusting of partners. Her partner when she had been a detective, looked at her backside more than he had her backside. Then she’d thought she’d built trust with a partner of five years when she came to IA… and things had just fallen apart. They didn’t understands how betrayal of trust hurt so badly, at least that was the vibe she was getting from her brother. @bobby

it's a sign of my obsession ||He looked at his father again. His sister was being stubborn. Being married to a stubborn man, must have rubbed off on her. But at the same time he understood why she could. Since she was glued to that husband of hers, " She won't let us help, will she?" Rick sighed as he asked his father. Being the older brother, he badly wanted to help his baby sister. Even as they had grown up, Rick always had looked out for his sisters. That was something he was not going to change, anytime soon. He held his wife tighter as he sensed she needed it, " I promise you, Jams. I'm not going to let you, harm anyone. I know for fact, that you would never harm our children. You love them." A part of her wondered what compelled her to ask for such promise in the first place. As she stated about her partner, " You will find that person," he said. Maybe not tomorrow, but one day she would find that one person who would have her back and with full loyalty. [ WORDS ] [ end of thread ] [ MUSIC ] [ TAG ] you're my sweetest sin |
